The aim of the seminar is to discuss both the European Pillar of Social Rights and the recently signed Declaration of La Hulpe. What will these declarations mean in practice? What will be the consequences if priorities shift? Europe needs to keep everyone on board. Too many people are still left behind despite of all the initiatives taken. Still too many workers are exploited and too many employers are abusing the difference in national legislation of EU Member States. The European Union should focus more strongly on preventing this.
The Declaration of La Hulpe coincides with what workers’ organisations are striving for. But there is the fear that social issues will be undermined because of more urgent matters. So how to make sure that the goals of the declaration are achieved?
