The project will first present trends in labour force development, including forecasts for its future growth. In recent years, the structure of the labour force in European countries has changed significantly. After a period of growth, there was a shrinking phase, which is caused by fundamental demographic and social changes (such as an aging population and falling birth rates). These changes are reflected in the structure of the economies.
In addition to the shrinking labour force, the demand for labour has changed significantly in recent years and is changing faster than ever before. This is leading to a change in the required skills structure, which is often inflexible (e.g. due to rigid education systems), putting pressure on workers and companies to find ways to adapt.
The project aims to identify specific challenges related to labour shortages in the European Union and the lack of necessary skills, and to contribute to the discussion on possible solutions. The added value of the seminar lies in a better understanding of the changes in the labour market, which significantly affect both the current and the future workforce. These insights can be used to develop Christian-social policies that secure workers' rights and promote social peace, as well as to respond to structural changes through active employment policies. The project also helps to improve understanding of these changes in the context of tripartite negotiations and collective agreements.
