Supporting migrants and refugees in the European labour market – challenges for workers' organisations

Lublin / PL

This seminar aims to address the current situation of migrants and refugees in Europe, with a focus on labour migrants. It will examine the challenges they face, such as complex work permit procedures, dismissals, wage reductions, labour market discrimination, and deficiencies in education and skills. A key discussion point will be the integration of refugees and migrants into society and the labour market, as well as the role of workers' organisations in supporting this process.

The seminar will debate the professional and educational situation of migrants and refugees and explore good practices for their activation in the labour market. Representatives of workers' organisations from different EU countries will exchange experiences on integrating labour migrants socially, culturally, linguistically, and professionally. Discussions will focus on supporting foreign workers, preventing illegal practices, ensuring their legal rights, and effectively communicating their importance to economic development.

The project will seek to strengthen cooperation between workers' organisations, promote the role of workers’ organisations in dialogue on integration processes, and build plans for short- and long-term collaboration. The seminar also aims to enhance dialogue and experience-sharing between workers' organisations and local and national authorities, contributing to more effective integration strategies.
