Increasing the capacity of workers' organizations from candidate countries by increasing the competence of members

Băile Felix / RO

This project supports workers' organizations in EU candidate countries, focusing on their preparation for EU accession. It aims to strengthen their knowledge of key topics, including labour law, social dialogue, communication within and outside organizations, and occupational health and safety. The project primarily targets organizations in Ukraine and Moldova, with participation open to representatives from other candidate countries.

The project involves two meetings. The first meeting will focus on EU standards in the social field, particularly the acquis Communautaire, with presentations and case studies shared by trade union representatives from EU member states. The second meeting will address practical aspects of worker representation, such as communication, social dialogue, and workplace safety. Participants will engage in role-playing and team-based analyses of negotiation chapters covered in the first meeting. Experts from academia and experienced trade unions will provide insights and guidance.

The project enhances the capacity of workers’ organizations to actively engage in the EU integration process and contribute effectively to social dialogue. Best practices in social dialogue will be shared by representatives from EU member states, ensuring organizations are better equipped to protect workers’ interests during and after accession.
