Health and safety of workers in agriculture

Bari / IT

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous occupational fields in the EU, characterised by a high risk of accidents, illnesses and hazardous working conditions. It is particularly problematic that many incidents are not reported, which means that the actual risk situation is not recorded.

Occupational safety in agriculture is affected by specific hazards such as the use of dangerous machinery, contact with harmful chemicals and extreme working conditions. Against this background, the project pursues several objectives:

Protection of the health and well-being of agricultural workers,

  • Reduction of occupational accidents and illnesses,

  • Increased efficiency and productivity through safer working conditions,

  • Training workers in dealing with sector-specific risks,

  • Sensitising companies to their responsibility if prevention measures are not implemented.

Social dialogue plays a central role in the development and implementation of safety standards. The project provides a platform for exchanging best practices, discussing the legal requirements and highlighting the importance of EU-OSHA. The aim is to promote a culture of risk prevention, improve working conditions and strengthen the protection of workers.

With these measures, the project aims to raise awareness of health and safety in agriculture and empower participants to actively shape safety in the workplace.
