This project focuses on the European Labour Authority (ELA) and its role in ensuring fair labour mobility, combating abuse, and harmonizing labour standards across the EU. It will assess the ELA’s effectiveness, explore its potential to address economic disparities, and examine its role in safeguarding workers’ rights and social protection. The seminar will also evaluate the impact of digitalization and automation on the labour market and discuss how the ELA can address these challenges.
Participants will develop strategies to enhance the involvement of workers’ organizations in the ELA’s operations and decision-making processes. The project aims to identify and share best practices from EU member states, propose policy recommendations to improve the ELA’s mandate and efficiency, and foster stronger cooperation between the ELA and national labour authorities. Raising awareness about the ELA’s work and the importance of fair labour practices will also be a key focus.
By involving workers’ organizations directly in the evaluation and strategic planning of the ELA, the project strengthens the role of these organizations in shaping policies and practices. This leads to more balanced and equitable decision-making processes, where the interests and rights of workers are better represented. It enhances the capacity of workers’ organizations to influence labour policies, promotes mutual understanding and cooperation, and supports the harmonization of standards across the EU, ultimately contributing to a fairer and more just labour market.
