EU-Erweiterung und junge Arbeitnehmer:innen im Westbalkan

Banja Luka / BA

This project focuses on connecting three key areas: the involvement of young workers, social dialogue, and EU accession in the Western Balkans. It aims to engage young workers in the accession process, emphasizing their role in social dialogue and exploring specific opportunities for their active involvement. The project will also examine the current stage of accession negotiations, particularly in areas affecting trade unions and social dialogue, and draw on lessons learned from countries that have already joined the EU, such as Slovenia, Croatia, and Romania.

The project will analyse political developments and progress in accession negotiations in the Balkans region, emphasizing the importance of involving social partners in the reform process to strengthen social rights. Experiences will be exchanged with workers’ organisations from EU member states, and best practices will be identified. Additionally, representatives of national conventions and similar structures that facilitate civil society participation in accession negotiations will contribute to discussions.

The project adds value to social dialogue by fostering the involvement of young workers in social dialogue processes and promoting the engagement of social partners in the EU accession process. It aims to improve social dialogue in the Western Balkans and foster cooperation and exchange of ideas between social partners and government representatives in the region.
