The project aims to train representatives of trade unions and other workers’ organisations to empower women, particularly in rural areas, by promoting digital skills and fostering equal opportunities, financial independence and innovation. This should facilitate their access to the labour market, enable their professional flexibility and reduce gender-specific discrepancies.
The core contents are:
- Promoting labour market access and autonomy: women should be able to work mobile and geographically independent through digital skills.
- Combating economic vulnerability: Gender-specific wage inequality and financial dependency should be reduced.
- Support for female innovation: Women should be encouraged to develop sustainable business ideas and digital entrepreneurship.
- Improving the quality of life: Sustainable sources of income and local projects should strengthen communities.
Challenges include work-life balance, lack of access to funding and networks, and gaps in digital skills, especially in rural areas.
The event provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and strategies with a focus on digitalisation as an employment driver, the role of trade unions and other workers’ organisations in gender equality and educational initiatives to close the digital gender gap. The project aims to show that the targeted promotion of digital skills not only drives the personal and professional development of women, but also has a positive impact on economic and social dynamics in rural areas.
