Digitalisation serves people, not people serve digitalisation! The role of workers' organisations in occupational safety in the digital transformation process

Limonest / FR

The project's central questions are: What impact does digitalisation have on the working population? How can risks to occupational safety be minimised and opportunities seized? In addition, the project will examine how the hierarchical flattening resulting from digitalisation can be used for the self-organisation of workers' representatives in order to establish a responsible civil society as a counterweight to the interests of large data companies.

The project emphasises that digitalisation is an inevitable process that offers numerous development opportunities. Workers' organisations should ensure that this process is designed in a humane way. This includes providing members with relevant information, enabling them to develop their own positions and actively advocating a design of the process that minimises health risks in the workplace and takes advantage of relief opportunities. Furthermore, the trend towards flattening hierarchies should be taken up in order to promote the self-organisation of workers in trade unions and beyond.
