Designing effective digital education in European social dialogue

The purpose of the EZA network’s educational work on European social dialogue is to impart knowledge, exchange experiences, connect stakeholders and pass on acquired knowledge. European seminars are characterised by cultural diversity, multilingualism and differing educational needs and ranges of experience. These factors have an impact on the quality of the educational events.
The coronavirus pandemic presented new challenges for educational work on European social dialogue. Limited travel options necessitated the use of digital, internet-based and video-supported seminar formats. The coronavirus pandemic has also created a “new normal” in education and training in the field of European social dialogue, in which technological possibilities are used more widely and routinely.
In this publication, Ilona Arcaro and Rainer Rißmayer summarise how digital seminar formats can work successfully, taking as their basis courses on this topic that the Nell Breuning House has held in cooperation with EZA.
The aim of the brochure is to convey in practical terms how digital learning differs from traditional educational formats, and what requirements learners and teachers need to meet in digital learning contexts. It also aims to illustrate how digital learning frameworks and scenarios might look, as well as to present a variety of digital learning methods and the appropriate tools and applications.
I hope that reading this brochure offers you inspiration for new ideas and approaches in (digital) European educational work!
