The project addresses the urgent need for affordable housing in Europe, focusing on strategies and measures to alleviate housing shortages and improve access to adequate living conditions, particularly for low-income groups. The lack of affordable housing impacts family well-being, economic development, and social cohesion, making it a critical issue to address.
The project will bring together housing experts, policymakers and workers’ organisations representatives from various countries. They will share strategies and measures adopted in different nations and regions to address housing shortages and implement affordable housing solutions tailored to diverse needs. The focus will include planning approaches for social housing, co-housing models, intergenerational living solutions, and cooperative housing models.
The project seeks to raise awareness of housing issues and encourage trade unions and workers’ organizations to contribute to affordable housing solutions. It emphasizes the need for socially responsible policies to keep housing costs proportionate to income and to ensure access to social housing and rent subsidies for disadvantaged groups. Participants will explore strategies to support secure and affordable housing as a foundation for dignity, inclusion, and economic stability.
