Across Europe, demographic ageing, declining birth rates, and persistent labour shortages are reshaping labour markets and creating new challenges for economic growth, social cohesion, and the sustainability of welfare systems. In this context, labour migration has become an increasingly important component of Europe's response to workforce shortages, while raising important questions about integration, working conditions, and social dialogue.
The event will present the findings of a recent ADAPT report examining the role of migration in addressing labour shortages in the EU. The discussion will focus on the policies and practices that support the labour market integration of migrant workers, with particular attention to skills recognition, access to quality employment, and the contribution of trade unions and social dialogue to building inclusive labour markets.
