The project aims to analyse the legal situation regarding safety and health at work for remote workers. To do this, it will first look at national legislation and regulations at the European Union level. In addition, the perspectives of workers, employers and public authorities, particularly the labour inspectorate, must be included.
The project will assess the legal framework, in particular its comprehensiveness, efficiency and adaptability to remote working practices. It will examine the extent to which this framework ensures safe and healthy working conditions and how the rights of remote workers are protected, including the identification and sanctioning of abuses.
A key concern of the project is to find out how trade unions are involved in these cases, how widespread trade union membership is among remote workers, and how the rate of unionisation in this group can be increased and how detailed information on the safety and health situation in the workplace can be achieved. The extent to which workers are interested in the possible consequences of inadequate health and safety conditions and who can defend their rights through negotiation and social dialogue is also discussed.
