Job advertisement: Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication (m/f/x)

Are you enthusiastic about Europe and educational work? The European Centre for Workers’ Questions (EZA) is a network of 73 Christian-social workers’ organisations, educational and research institutions from 30 European countries which address workers’ questions. In the EZA Secretariat you can help co-ordinate approx. 65 educational events a year for multipliers and delegates of trade unions and other workers’ organisations on topical issues of the social dialogue in Europe.

EZA is seeking for the earliest possible date an

Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication (m/f/x)

Working hours: 100% of the standard weekly working time. The post is limited to two years. The aim is to remove the time limit.

Place: Königswinter/Bonn


As Assistant to the Secretary-General you will be responsible for our communication and assist the Secretary-General with content, conception and organisation in daily work:


  • Co-ordination and conceptional further development of our communication work
  • Management and updating of the website and social media
  • Research into and processing of political issues
  • Creating and dispatching press releases
  • Creating other communication materials (newsletter, flyers, etc.)
  • Co-ordinating with the EZA members
  • Assisting with EZA events

Secretary-General’s office

  • Preparation and follow-up of the bodies’ meetings, in particular co-ordinating the General Assembly and annual Members’ Conference
  • Creating concept papers and decision templates
  • Co-ordinating the internal processes of the EZA Secretariat and quality management
  • Data protection

Requirement profile:

You have:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree (or comparable qualification) in communication sciences/PR management/journalism
  • International work experience in public relations for non-profit organisations, project management and event organisation
  • Enthusiasm for communication, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Language skills: fluent written and spoken English; good knowledge of German; other languages are an advantage  
  • A high degree of initiative, commitment and flexibility
  • An independent, structured and result-oriented working method
  • Intercultural communication and team skills
  • Willingness for business trips within Europe
