Meeting with Maria Reina Martin, Executive Secretary of FIDESTRA

At the invitation of the Deputy Mayor of Neuss, Angelika Quiring-Perl, the Executive Secretary of the Portuguese EZA Member Centre FIDESTRA, Maria Reina Martin visited the region from 10 to 12 August 2009.

Talks were held on the planned school student exchange, which is to be seen as a direct consequence of the social dialogue, which FIDESTRA has undertaken in recent years, in collaboration with EZA in Évora and Montemor-o-Novo. This exchange will provide school students with the opportunity to study issues such as migration and integration, equality of opportunity und professional education and exchange models of best practice.

Maria Reina Martin also visited the KAB world aid centre in Cologne, which is involved in collaborative work within the context of the International Platform for Cooperation and Migration, particularly with regard to activities in Brazil.

In addition, Maria Reina Martin was the guest of EZA in Königswinter, where she addressed employees about what FIDESTRA was doing now and in the future, particularly the “Professional Course for New Trade Union Leaders and Executives of Worker Organisations with regard to the Social Dialogue", which is scheduled for December and which will be accredited by the University of Porto.
